Introduction
The Colosseum or the amphitheater was built in A.D 70 under the command of Emperor Vespasian and was completed in A.D 80 under emperor Titus. The height was 157 ft., and the perimeter was 1125 ft. The Colosseum could practically fit a football field and had at least 4 floors. The Colosseum fit 50,000 people at the most. It is the fastest building in history to get 50,000 people out. Some occasions the Colosseum was used for other things such as celebrations, workshops, and a quarry. There were underground tunnels beneath the Colosseum. It also held elevators and trap doors. Some tunnels held animals and gladiators. The Colosseum survived many earthquakes, but part of the Colosseum was torn because of numerous earthquakes occurring.
